Perm Love for Animals Month

For three years in a row, starting from 2015, we’ve been celebrating the Month of Veganism and Love for Animals every November. During the event we watch movies, go out shopping, give rundowns on various topics and, of course, cook a lot!

Back in November 2015, Perm hosted 13 events associated with helping animals and vegetarian cuisine. The idea came from our friend and expert cook Max Drachev who had once lamented Perm lacked special events for the 1st of November, the Vegan Day. We echoed his call by orchestrating a month-long festival.

November 2016 has yet featured 33 events of diverse formats, such as movie screenings, lectures and meetings, hackathones, campaigns, a cook-off, a charity dinner and a very big eco vegan market. As we favor horizontal organization, our intention was to set up an event not FOR Perm citizens but TOGETHER with them.
The conclusive event of the month traditionally includes Grand Restaurant Day and
«
I Am Alive» Eco-Market.

In 2017, we organized a big event for every weekend throughout November. The first weekend of the month was dedicated to lectures on scientific and practical issues and concluded with an exciting intellectual team game. Perhaps, the most sensational lecture was given by Alexander Karpuhin, a practicing physician from Saint-Petersburg, Russia, who spoke about health on a whole-food vegan diet.

The second weekend was devoted to the hackathone on art and IT-projects. 7 projects were presented as a result of the hackathone, with “Perm is the City of Rivers” as a winner-project. The team got the main prize of 50 thousand rubles for further development of the project. As the first step, the authors were supposed to build a few bee hotels at an abandoned green area under one of many Perm’s bridges.

Finally, the third weekend was all about our traditional eco-vegan fair and the last weekend concluded with a cozy animal rights film festival. Site and schedule of the festival ‘2017 is here.
